Centre for Quantum Sciences and Technologies (CQST) aims to lead research and development in various aspects of quantum sciences, including quantum physics, materials, devices, computing, biology, pharmacology, sensing, imaging, metrology, and machine learning (quantum Artificial Intelligence – AI).

Activities Conducted

  • MoU signed with industry partner QpiAI – to initiate and facilitate collaborations with the following goals:
    • Integrate QpiAl’s industry-led education programs in RVU UG/PG curriculum
    • Have active collaboration between QpiAl and CQST in quantum technologies
    • Establish Quantum Technology Workbench with Infrastructure and Systems.
  • Multi-crore collaborative research proposal submitted to Government of India under “National Quantum Mission” – RVU is part of 8 members consortium having IIT Dharwad, IIT Patna, IIT Tirupati, IISER Tirupati, VIT Vellore, PRL Ahmedabad, and Calcutta University in this proposal.
  • Since inception, CQST faculty have published the following papers in reputed international journals:
  • CQST has developed a Micro-specialization on Quantum Computing at RV University – RVU is the only state private University in India offering such Micro-specialization focusing on industry domains. A full fledged undergraduate program in this field will also be eventually developed.
  • CQST is a lead player in designing curriculum on Quantum Technologies for Indian universities.
  • CQST faculty Dr. P.C. Deshmukh has delivered well received lecutres in various universities including IITs’:
    • “Recurring pitfalls in teaching physics”, Faculty Development Program, CHARUSAT, Vallabh Vidya Nagar, 7 March, 2024.
    • “Attosecond time delay in atomic photoionization” at IIT Bhubaneswar on 20th March, 2024.
    • “Symmetry of the non-relativistic hydrogen atom” at IIT Bhubaneswar on 22nd March, 2024.
    • “The Reality, Entanglement & Teleportation Conundrum – Physics Nobel Prize 2022” at GNDU, Amritsar, on 5th April, 2024.
    • “Attosecond time delay in atomic photoionization – Physics Nobel Prize 2023 at GNDU, Amritsar, on 8th April, 2024.
    • IAPT+RVU World Quantum Day celebration on 12th April , 2024 in connection with the National Workshop on Quantum Physics, NQW 2024 (Alice in Quantumland) on “Complexity of the Quantum Land” at RV University, Bengaluru.
    • World Quantum Day celebration on 14th April , 2024 “The second quantum revolution” at NMIT (Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology), Bengaluru.

Partnerships

  • MoU signed with industry partner QpiAI
  • Research collaboration for “National Quantum Mission” with IIT Dharwad, IIT Patna, IIT Tirupati, IISER Tirupati, VIT Vellore, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, and Calcutta University.
  • Discussions are underway with other industry partners engaged in applications of quantum computing like QDIT Labs.
  • CQST is engaged in developing a RVU & IIT Dharwad MoU.
  • CQST is guided by industry expert Dr. Madhan Kumar Srinivasa
