Overview

The Centre for Health Law and Ethics at School of Law, RV University aims to mobilize new ideas by way of research to affect policies and legislations at the national and international level .This Centre will function as a Think Tank and would enable in strengthening the public health sector as the primary provider of promotive, preventive, and curative health services in India and provide for an integrated approach to include the private health care sector to achieve health care for all.

This Centre shall involve all stakeholders concerned in exploring the issues on any area of health, analyses and critique the existing regulatory and policy framework and make recommendations for future regulatory policies wherever required. This synergy and Partnerships of Expert knowledge would facilitate in aligning future course of actions for better Health.

Objectives

Constant engagement in high-quality research in identified areas of Health law with an aim to improve the quality, accessibility and affordability of health care delivery and betterment of individual’s health parameters


Pro-active engagement in policy formulation, policy reforms and advocacy exercise to bring greater justiciability to individual’s right to health’


Publication of Research Papers, White-Papers etc. pertaining to contemporary areas of health


Establish a ‘Platform’ for stakeholders to deliberate on issues of contemporary relevance which shall bring much needed cooperation between relevant agencies


Development of suitable ‘Training modules’ in specialized areas of health


Constantly network among various stakeholders to understand the Issues/challenges and provide an active platform for constant dialogues regarding issues that are of utmost concern. Activities Undertaken

The Centre for Health law and ethics, School of Law, RV University, Bengaluru in collaboration with DAPM RV Dental College & Hospital conducted a workshop on “Legal framework governing Health Professionals” on July 10, 2024. The audience for the workshop comprised of dentists across different specialties wherein discussions on the medico legal issues faced by them and the solutions to overcome were discussed and this collaboration emphasized on having frequent courses and conclave on the legal aspects of healthcare.

The Centre for Health law and ethics, RV University conducted a sensitization workshop for students on ‘ Mental Health and well-being of students’ by renowned speaker Dr. Suresh Badamath, Prof. of Psychiatry and Head of Forensic Psychiatry Unit, NIMHANS, Bengaluru on October 01,2024 at the Senate Room, RV University, Bengaluru
